Yahoo buys BuzzTracker, builds Holy Trinity

Tom Foremski, aka SiliconValleyWatcher, has written an interesting post in which he defines “the Holy Trinity of media… as.. the combination of: professional media; citizen media, and smart machine media.”

That was in my head when I read a story in Paid Content about Yahoo paying “single-digit millions” for Chicago-based news aggregator and blog tracking site BuzzTracker. The article said founder Alan Warms would become GM and VP of Yahoo’s news division and linked to an entry on his blog. Paid Content said:

“So it looks like with adding the automatic aggregation capabilities of BuzzTracker, Yahoo news will expand from beyond a directory/human-driven news aggregation site.”
